Corrie fans find Mick's 'brother' before exit and he's already in Weatherfield (2025)

Coronation Street fans think they have found Mick Michaelis' brother - and he's already in Weatherfield.

The new character's links to the cobbles are yet to be explored following his and his wife Lou's arrival back in February. The new couple were previously revealed as part of a new family set to shake things up for the other residents on the Street.

Mick, played by Joe Layton, and Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty, were described as 'nightmare neighbours' who were willing to make life hell for anyone who dares to cross them.

Corrie fans saw Mick and Lou moving into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown's house, which is the first time ever Corrie have extended the serial drama across the ginnel in a history-making move for the popular show.

It was also revealed at the time that the couple would pose a problem for DC Kit Green, who made his first appearance on the Street last year after Bernie Winter went on a mission to find her long-lost son, Zodiac.

When she found Kit, played by Jacob Roberts, as she posed as a cleaner before rifling through his drawers, he lied and said he wasn't adopted but it was later confirmed that Bernie had found her long-lost son.

But some fans have pondered whether another newcomer could have a link to Mick. During Thursday's (April 3) episode of the ITV soap, Theo Silverton returned to No.11 to see Todd Grimshaw and one thing soon led to another and the pair ended up in a passionate embrace.

After an afternoon getting very intimate, Todd and Theo chatted about a second date and they both seemed keen on meeting up again. But their steamy rendezvous was interrupted by the arrival of Todd's family, leading Theo to run off out the back of the house with no explanation.

He later text Todd and said he needed his jacket, which he left behind, and Todd ended up getting a free house once again and let Theo back in. When the confused undertaker asked his new love interest about the disappearing act, he said his family were not as accepting of his sexuality.

But Corrie fans think Theo is hiding something much more than that, with one having suggested: "I bet Mick is Theo’s brother #corrie @itvcorrie."

Others, however, think that will be how Kit and Mick are related. One said: "That new comer Mick is going to be Kits foster brother I bet #corrie." Another added: "Does anyone else think new comer Micky is kits foster brother and mick is Bernie’s real son cause he is so much like Paul and kit just wanted to be part of a real family #Corrie."

At the end of last month, the Mirror reported Mick will soon depart Weatherfield, with actor Joe Layton's stint on the show always planned to be temporary.

An insider revealed that Joe joined on a fixed contract for a special storyline, with no "shock" exit. They also revealed that Mick's character will remain on screen until late July, with the soap insider teasing there was "lots more to come".

Now, a Corrie spokesperson has confirmed that exit of both Mick and Lou from the long-running show, with actress Farell Hegarty also leaving before the summer.

They confirmed their exits to The Sun and said "Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt.

"Joe and Farrell were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer."
